The Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) is an independent institute committed to conducting eye research with real-life impact, and finding ways to prevent people from going blind.

Design by Nature has supported CERA through various creative services, including photography and impact reports.

Partnering with this client for many years has allowed us to develop a strong visual style and a deep understanding of their operations and teams. Going behind closed doors with our cameras, we’ve been able to hero the staff who do amazing work in research labs, practice rooms and people’s homes. We’ve also been privileged to document the impact of CERA’s work on people with vision loss or blindness.

Our style of photography for these shoots is often completely natural. We shoot in available light on location with a nimble kit of four prime lenses.

We believe it’s important for every portrait to take the time to talk with our subjects. This helps them feel more relaxed, and gives us a better understanding of their unique story.
